President Report:
Nothing specific at this time
Old Business:
All the needed information is turned into the county for our beach repair
project. We are now waiting for the approval. Then we can get bids for the
needed repairs and stabilization. There was one community member that
wrote into the county suggesting we use the back beach pathway/old
abandon road for access, the county came out and inspected. There would be
many other needed requirements to go with this suggestion. We would have
to make the proposal to the county for them to consider if we wanted to go
this route.
Financial Audit is complete and will have the report at the October Members
meeting.
Facilities manual is being worked on. Sue is inserting the photos into the text.
New Business:
We have hired a new sewer plant and water system operator. His name is
Marty and he has been working hard to get things cleaned up. He was
recommended by the Carl Jones from the department of Ecology. He seems
to be a perfect fit.
The new Sewer Plant operator has agreed to train a member of our
community to learn the operations at the plant. Steve is interested in learning
on his own time. It will take 100s of hours to be certified. Will need to take
some classes and about 18 months of training. Discussion on setting up a
special committee for overseeing the plant operator, if they are a board
member. The training is open to other community members if they are
interested.
The other newly purchased blower for the sewer plant was recovered from
the past plant operator.
Plans to clean out the storage area at the sewer plant and then possible
install some shelves.
TBBC now has a corporate credit card for things that need to be purchased by
a card. Board members have been using their own cards in these situations
and decided that it would be best to have a corporate card. When the card is
used, it will be paid off each month so there will be no charges or fees.
An inspection of the community roads was made by Alice and John. The areas
that they felt were in most need of repairs were marked, an area about 40’ x
17’ in front of Sherrod’s place, in front of the two lots that Stonestreet owns
and in front of Jeager’s place. At an estimated $5.50 a square foot, it would
be over $10,000. In our road repair fund we have $4530 set aside so far.
These areas seem to keep growing and will need repair soon. There may be a
need for a special assessment to be able to repair these next spring. There
are some other areas that need repair also.
Discussion regarding preparations for the winter such as purchasing salt for
the roads if there is snow, propane for the sewer plant and generator
maintenance.
Discussion regarding doing some tree trimming and bushes in the
neighborhood. Steve has gotten a few bids but they came back pretty high.
He will keep working on it, and call Tony our current landscaper for a bid.
There is a couple of trees that could be a potential problem growing over the
sewer lines.
The stairs at the beach cabana are deteriorating and in need of repair.
Discussion to form a committee to come up with the best ways to repair them
and a work crew. We will ask for volunteers at the members meeting.
The entry gate is starting to make noise and needs to be maintained. We will
ask for volunteers at the members meeting to help maintain the gate.
Someone needs to be in charge to be sure the maintenance gets done.
Discussion on making a bylaw change to limit the amount of rentals allowed
in TayorBay. We will discuss this at the members meeting and possible form
a committee.
There was discussion regarding a possible special assessment next year
(2014) due to beach and road repairs. So far this year’s special assessment
has paid for over $10,000 of expenses.
Discussion regarding a suspicious character that was seen in the
neighborhood, all neighbors should be vigilant and call police if needed.
The office building in the sewer plant area is deteriorating due to ivy growing
and age. John and Jim have been working on the building. John has been
volunteering his time to take down the ivy and rotten fascia boards. It will
take an estimated $1000 for the work including materials to finish the
repairs. A board decision was made to pay for these repairs, using the
special assessment.
